Do you remember the first time you told someone you wanted to be an actor or work in show business? Maybe you haven't told anyone yet.

For most it's a shock to others when they find out you want to be in the entertainment industry.

One of the most difficult things about being an actor is rejection. Especially when you first start out. You are going to need all the support you can find. Getting rejected by those closest to you (like family and friends) is worse than being rejected by someone considering you for a role.

You will hear things like "When are you going to give up this crazy idea and get a real day job."

If you happen to be one of the lucky ones who has the support of family and friends great, but if you are like most and are getting strange looks from all those around you because want to be an actor, then you are going to have to believe in yourself.

It's easier said than done, but if you have a dream, don't let anyone or anything take it away from you.

If you are a minor, I urge you to stay in school and get as much experience in plays and local theater as possible before you come to Hollywood. If you are already in Hollywood or if you are on your way visit the DOS and DONT'S of Hollywood in Career Services. There are many thing to watch out for in Hollywood and this list of things you should know about Hollywood will be of great help to you as you begin in the film and TV business.
